Golden berries are incredible superfood! They are high in antioxidants. They can support in helping with inflammation. They may be able to support the immune system, they are high in niacin, super high in polyphenols and they have a large amount of beta-carotene in them.

Are golden berries high in sugar though? Well, there is about 14g per 1/3 cup serving. This is half the sugar of dried blueberries and still less than dried cranberries!

Golden berries are a really distinct flavor. They are a tart-sweet kind of flavor and we recommend only having 1-2 serving sizes per sitting. Like any food out there, portions matter. You don’t want to overdo it on anything.

When we think of natural sugars, we need to understand that they usually come with some really grand nutrients.

Natural Sugars Vs. Added Sugars

Natural sugars and added sugars are very different. They are not one in the same. Our bodies recognize similar things when both are ingested- added energy, sometimes a spike in insulin, etc.

Why you should choose naturally sweetened snacks over added sugar snacks

Unfortunately, added sugar can be found in so many things. If something is boxed up or in a plastic bag and has multiple ingredients- there is a big chance you will see some added sugar.

We want to focus on whole foods. Foods that have been used to support our total body health for centuries. Goldenberries may be lightly sweet (naturally) but they are a true superfood. You cannot say that about chocolate covered pretzels. There’s a huge difference!

They also have a tremendous amount of polyphenols. Studies have shown that golden berries can help in the support of regulating the immune system.
